Privacy Policy

Last updated: 29 August 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how LookDog (“we”, “us”, “our”) collects, uses and protects information when you visit lookdog.club. We are an independent product-recommendation website. We do not sell products directly, we do not take payments, and we have never processed an order.

Who We Are

LookDog is operated as an independent affiliate publisher and is the data controller for the information described here. For any privacy question or request, contact us at motilevi@gmail.com or through our contact page.

The Short Version

  • Analytics is switched off until you agree to it. If you ignore or reject the cookie banner, no analytics cookies are set and Google receives no identifiable data about you.
  • We never see your payment details, because buying happens on AliExpress, not here.
  • We do not sell your data, and we do not run advertising networks on this site.
  • You can change your mind at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer.

Information We Collect

  • Analytics data — only if you consent. Pages visited, approximate location derived from your IP address, device and browser type, and the site that referred you.
  • Contact form data — the name, email address, subject and message you submit. This is emailed to us and stored in this website’s own database.
  • Newsletter data — your email address, only if you choose to subscribe.
  • Server logs — our host records IP addresses and requests for security and troubleshooting. This happens for every website and does not depend on consent.
  • Aggregate click counts — see “How We Count Link Clicks” below. These contain no information about you.

We do not collect payment information, card details or delivery addresses, because purchases are completed on third-party retailer websites and never on LookDog.

Analytics and Your Consent

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages and products people find useful. It is configured using Google Consent Mode, and consent defaults to denied for every visitor, worldwide.

In practice that means:

  • Before you choose, no analytics or advertising cookies are stored on your device.
  • If you press Accept, analytics cookies are set and normal measurement begins.
  • If you press Reject, or simply ignore the banner, no such cookies are set. Google may still receive a cookieless signal that a page was viewed, which cannot be linked to you or used to build a profile.
  • Your choice is remembered for 12 months, after which we ask again.
  • You can change it whenever you like via Cookie settings in the footer. Withdrawing consent is as easy as giving it.

We do not use Google Analytics for advertising, remarketing or audience building, and we do not run ad networks on this site.

Cookies and Local Storage

These are the items this site can place on your device.

NameTypePurposeSet whenLasts
ld_consent_v1Local storage, not a cookieRemembers whether you accepted or rejected analyticsYou press a button on the cookie banner12 months
_ga, _ga_<id>Cookie (Google)Google Analytics: distinguishes visitors and sessionsOnly after you press AcceptUp to 2 years
WordPress session cookiesCookieKeeps a logged-in administrator signed inOnly if you log in to the siteSession or up to 14 days

Your consent choice is kept in your browser’s local storage rather than in a cookie, which means it is never transmitted to our server — it stays on your device.

Most browsers also let you block or delete cookies through their own settings. Doing so will not stop you reading the site, though affiliate referrals may not be tracked and your saved consent choice may be forgotten.

How We Count Link Clicks

When you press a “Check Price on AliExpress” button, or use one of our short /go/ links, the click passes through our own server before forwarding you to the destination. We use this to count how many times each product link was pressed.

This counting is deliberately anonymous. We store a running total per product and a daily total for the site. We do not record who clicked, from where, or with what device, and there is no identifier that could connect one click to another or to you. It happens whether or not you consent to analytics, because it collects no personal data at all.

Affiliate Tracking

When you click through to a retailer, that retailer (for example AliExpress) may set a cookie or add a tracking parameter so any resulting purchase is attributed to us. This is used solely to calculate commission, and we receive only aggregate reports — we are never told who bought what. Once you leave LookDog, that retailer’s own privacy policy governs your data.

How We Use Your Information, and Our Legal Basis

Count outbound link clicks in aggregateNo personal data is involved, so no basis is required

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with anyone except the service providers listed below.

Who Processes Data For Us

  • Google (Google Analytics 4) — website usage statistics, only with your consent.
  • Hostinger — web hosting and server logs, and the delivery of newsletter emails.
  • AliExpress / Alibaba — affiliate referral tracking, once you leave our site.
  • This website itself — contact form submissions are stored in our own database on our hosting, not with a third party.

International Transfers

If you consent to analytics, Google may process your data outside the United Kingdom and the European Economic Area, including in the United States. Google states that it relies on the EU–US and UK–US Data Privacy Frameworks and on Standard Contractual Clauses for these transfers. Similarly, when you click through to AliExpress your data is handled outside the UK and EEA under that company’s own terms.

Data Retention

  • Contact form messages — stored in this site’s database and kept until the enquiry is resolved and no longer needed. You can ask us to delete yours at any time.
  • Newsletter subscriptions — kept until you unsubscribe.
  • Analytics data — retained by Google for the period configured in Google Analytics, which is between 2 and 14 months.
  • Aggregate click counts — kept indefinitely, as they contain no personal data. Daily site totals are trimmed to the last 120 days.
  • Server logs — kept by our host for a short period for security purposes.

Your Rights (GDPR, UK GDPR and Similar Laws)

If you are in the UK, EU, EEA, Switzerland, or another region with comparable data protection law, you have the right to request access to the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to or restrict how it is processed, to receive a copy in portable form, and to withdraw consent at any time.

For analytics specifically, you do not need to email anyone to withdraw consent — use the Cookie settings link in the footer and press Reject. For anything else, email motilevi@gmail.com. You also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority; in the UK that is the Information Commissioner’s Office.

California Residents (CCPA/CPRA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. LookDog does not sell or share personal information as defined by these laws.

Children’s Privacy

LookDog is not directed at children under 13 (or under 16 where local law requires), and we do not knowingly collect their personal data. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The “last updated” date at the top will always reflect the current version.

Note: this policy is written in good faith to describe our actual practices. It is not legal advice, and we recommend having it reviewed by a qualified professional for your specific jurisdiction.
