Treat the price as a guide, not a quote. AliExpress sellers change prices through the day — we have watched items here move by more than 20% between one morning and the same evening — and the figure above is for one option, so a different size or colour usually costs something different again. App-only deals and personal coupons move it again at checkout. Always read the price on AliExpress before you buy. Figures come from the AliExpress listing, checked 15 hours ago. The feedback score is the seller’s, not a rating by us — we have not tested this product.

A slicker brush glides across the top of a coat and can leave a mat sitting underneath completely untouched. A steel comb cannot – if it will not pass through, there is a tangle there. This is why professional groomers finish every dog with a comb rather than a brush, and it is the single most useful grooming tool most owners do not own.

Key Benefits

  • Finds mats that a slicker brush skims straight over
  • Two tooth spacings on one comb: wide for bulk, narrow for finishing
  • Solid stainless steel with no coating to chip
  • Two lengths available to suit the size of the dog

Best For

  • Doodles, spaniels, collies and anything with a long or curly coat
  • Checking your work after brushing
  • Working through the areas mats always start: behind the ears, armpits, under the collar

How It Works

Brush first, then comb. Start at the wide end for the bulk of the coat and finish with the narrow teeth. Work from the skin outwards in small sections rather than raking from the top, and if the comb stops, deal with that spot before moving on.

Pros and Cons

Pros: Turns guesswork into a test – if the comb passes cleanly, the coat is genuinely mat free.

Cons: Solid steel is unforgiving on skin if you are heavy handed, and it is uncomfortable to pull through an existing mat.

Things to Consider

  • Use a dematting tool on established mats first; forcing a comb through hurts
  • Pick 19cm for large or heavily coated dogs, 16cm for small breeds
  • Comb after every brush, not instead of it
  • Prices, availability and shipping times are set by the AliExpress seller and can change
